The OÜ (private limited company) route is for those who plan to build a larger or scalable business with a team and significant investment. You must invest €65,000, and show at least 4 months of real business activity.
The FIE (sole proprietor) option is best suited for solo professionals like freelancers, consultants, or individual service providers. The investment requirement is €16,000.
What does “real business activity” mean?
This refers to genuine, documented commercial operations — such as issuing invoices, paying for services, hiring staff, and handling daily business operations. A company must be actively trading for at least 4 months before you can apply for the residence permit.
What is the Start-up Committee and how do I get approval?
The Start-up Committee is a panel of Estonian experts who evaluate innovative business ideas applying for the Estonian Start-up Visa.
Your business must show global growth potential and be scalable, innovative, and tech-driven.
